News about my village. February 1, 2014

I just finished this post and hit “publish.” And all my writing was lost. I’m sorry. I will reconstruct it tomorrow. I don’t know what happened. But I can’t go through it all again tonight. Sometimes I think someone is messing with me.

My family is ok for now. That’s the most important news. There is artillery fire in the two nearby villages up the mountain. It is almost constant. My nephews remain in the village.

There is some hope that the terrorists will surrender soon. We all pray that it is so.

When will this nightmare end? How much more can we take? I wish I could see a happy and bright future. I pray that it comes for all of us.

About Leila

I am a wife and mother. I am an Orthodox Christian. I am a yoga and fitness instructor and personal trainer. And I am a Syrian American with family living in Syria. My life is defined by my family, and right now, that means chronic worry and fear. Thank God for my faith and the support of my family and friends. I started this blog to talk about all sorts of things, but now I focus on Syria. Until this war is over, I, like all Syrians with a love for their country and their families, am a prisoner of this war, waiting to see what will be left after the dust settles. I pray for the safety of my family and for my country to survive and repair itself in the future. God willing.
